3. PROFILE OF SKILLS AND COMPETENCES

General competences:

  • master different ways of learning and take responsibility for the development of one’s own potential in a lifelong perspective;
  • understand tasks or identify the core of a problem, apply various solutions, work independently and in a team;
  • apply advanced reading literacy skills to work effectively with information and to critically evaluate and interpret texts; 
  • communicate in one foreign language at least at B1 level according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR), and actively develop one’s own language skills;
  • apply scientific, technical, IT and mathematical knowledge, skills and procedures in practical contexts and in solving problems in various areas of life; 
  • work safely and at an advanced level with digital technologies and their software, and keep up with their development; 
  • search for, process and critically evaluate information, use algorithmic thinking, communicate and collaborate in online environments, and create digital content and models; 
  • understand the basic principles of information systems, analyse their structure and functions, design data models and adapt interfaces to user needs; 
  • be well versed in different social and value systems, as well as social, political, legal and economic processes of everyday life, and demonstrate financial and media literacy; 
  • adapt to changing social, economic and technological conditions, and make responsible economic decisions;

  • observe the principles of occupational health and safety, and fire protection.

Vocational competences:

  • prepare production of moulding pattern equipment;
  • read engineering drawings, casting and foundry processing drawings and obtain from them information for the design and manufacture of model equipment, their maintenance and repair;
  • design and construct model devices using applied graphic software in 2D and 3D, and use this aid in their manufacture;
  • design independently technological processes for the production of model equipment - choose materials for the production and repair of model equipment and their components (wood, metal, plastic - including polystyrene, waxes, resins, etc..);
  • understand the technology of casting production in relation to the produced model equipment;
  • check the individual parts of model equipment and choose the appropriate gauges depending on the shrinking size of the casting materials;
  • apply the basic methods of quality control;
  • produce, maintain and repair model equipment and their parts from wood, metal and plastic;
  • manufacture and repair moulds for casting metal parts of model equipment;
  • manage work in the production of foundry model equipment and work on integrated production centres.

4. RANGE OF OCCUPATIONS ACCESSIBLE TO THE HOLDER OF THE CERTIFICATE

The graduate is employed in the field of foundry industry, in designing, production management, production and maintenance of model equipment for casting.

Examples of possible jobs: pattern maker in production, maintenance and repair of foundry model equipment made of wood, metal and plastic; master of the pattern workshop; master of the technical preparations in the foundries, foundry technologist, quality controller.
